Editorial Review:
Including and augmenting the exhibition catalogue on Dan Flavin’s art (see opposite page), this remarkable book features a complete catalogue of over 750 of the artist’s light works. Presenting all of Flavin’s lights together for the first time, this is the only publication to document the artist’s entire career. Flavin’s art has not been widely reproduced, and this definitive volume includes hundreds of images—featuring exquisite new photography—of well-known pieces as well as many rarely seen and unknown works. Each light work is illustrated by a beautiful color reproduction and/or a graphic diagram. Comprehensive information on each work, including title, date, medium, dimensions, edition, exhibition history, bibliography, and a brief discussion, reveals new insights into the artist’s working methods and provides an invaluable resource for students, scholars, dealers, and collectors.

Rating: - "Light" reading...
I never liked Flavin's work... until I saw it in person. After seeing his show at LACMA in 2007, I am a huge fan. No book can ever do his work justice, but this one is as good as it gets. If you want a great retrospective of his work, this is a great item. The book includes diagrams of how the lights were set up, complete with color-coding. Really a great book. It does not have that many large photos of his work, but what they have is great.
Rating: - DAN FLAVAN: THE COMPLETE LIGHTS
I AM AMAZED BY THE SCOPE OF THIS BOOK IN CATALOGING THE LIGHTS OF DAN FLAVIN. I NEVER REALIZED THAT HE HAD DONE SO MANY WORKS IN SO MANY CONFIGURATIONS, AND HOW BEAUTIFUL THEY ARE.
IT'S INSPIRATIONAL. THANK YOU MICHAEL GOVAN!
Rating: - Comprehensive and Well Presented
Dan Flavin is one of the most important contemporary artist but there have never been a comprehensive book of his entire oeuvre. We finally have a book that examines all of his works, and written by Michael Govan who have followed Dan Flavin for the last decade. Dan Flavin's works are fluorescent lights and it have often been difficult to photograph his works showing all the nuances, but in this book, they are very well photographed. This book will serve as the reference book for Dan Flavin works ... Read More
