This is a wonderful book. The text is simple and poetic. The illustrations are incredible. They make youw ant to go and play in the mud! This is perfect book for two through five year olds. I can't wait to us eit in my pr0k class room.

I had to return this. The poetry in the book was very nice, but the pictures were too abstract I think for a preschooler to grasp, and not particularly compelling for me as an adult who not only uses preschool nature books professionally but also collects them as a hobby.

This book tells the story of mud season, the fifth season of the year. It describes how mud season appears suddenly, what it looks like, and where it's headed. The book is great for kids living in 5 season regions, but it might be a little tough to understand for other kids. It's not at all scary, and the pictures are wonderful. It has about 120 words.

The children didn't enjoy this book, and have not asked for it to be read again. Good children's literature should have a story to it: a setting, problem and solution; a definite beginning, middle and ending; and well-defined characters. ... Read More
