Editorial Review:Anyone can learn a language with Michel Thomas--The World's Greatest Language Teacher. No books. No writing. No drills. And nothing to memorize--ever! With his unique program, Michel Thomas has taught celebrities, corporate leaders, and schoolchildren--with immediate and amazing results. Now the Language Teacher to the Stars invites everyone to join his class! Using German with Michel Thomas, listeners learn in real time--fully understanding as they go along, turning words into short sentences, and then building them into longer, more complex sentences, until they are conversing in German. Michel will have listeners formulating their own thoughts and sentences from the very beginning, even if they have never succeeded in learning a language before. Michel has used this very method to teach celebrities such as Mel Gibson, Woody Allen, Barbra Streisand, Warren Beatty, and Princess Grace of Monaco.

Rating: - Vile situations...
I've tried language courses on CD before. Usually they start off with `Hello, my name is James and I am from London', that sort of thing. Actually, the sort of things you never say to anybody when you go to another country. And you get those ridiculous conversations in shops, or at the railway station... they don't help at all do they?
It would be better to have somebody who knows what they are doing to teach you how to speak a language, and this is what Michel Thomas does. You become ... Read More
Rating: - Berlitz Method for Beginners
I am a big fan of Berlitz method. I was never good at English, my second language, in school days but now I am writing in English like this. That is all Berlitz method gave me.
However since I started learning French or other languages, I recognized Berlitz method limitation. By the time I started take English classes in Berlitz I had learned English for six years. Even I was not a good student I knew alphabet, I knew a hundred or more English words, I could write or speak some short sentences, ... Read More
Rating: - German for dummies
This set of Cd is very simple, just gives you the basic. Even tough there are 8 cds on the set, it could be easily 3 or 4, because most part of the time you listen to the two "students" that speaks with Michel Thomas trying to speak correctly, or saying the phrases wrong. They are just terrible, the woman the whole program can't even speak "ich" correctly - she says "ik" the whole time. In fact is not a book trying to teach YOU German - is just a record from a classroom, where somebody is teaching others, ... Read More
Rating: - It works!
I tried a couple other CD teaching programs and this one from Thomas works the most effectively.
Instead of starting you off by teaching you a bunch of touristy catch phrases (like other language programs so seemingly do), Thomas teaches you how to construct real sentences from the very start of the program.
You'll probably need a dictionary and/or another program to help build your vocabulary, as Thomas doesn't teach you a lot of this. However, what he DOES teach you is far more ... Read More
Rating: - Best conversational German course I have found!
I have had 3 college semesters of German; however, I have learned more conversational German from this course than I have in those three semesters. This is an excellent course to improve your conversational skills. Though grammer is covered a little, it is not explained in any depth. This is truely a conversational course. Having said that, I find that this is so far the best German course for the price. I have only gotten 1/2 way through the course, but so far I really enjoy his no-nonsense teaching ... Read More
